MONTICELLO –
University of
Arkansas at
Monticello junior
quarterback Scott
Buisson is the
school’s new
all-time leader with
8,629 yards of total
offense with more
than a season
remaining in his
career.
Buisson (Metairie,
La.) broke the
record in UAM’s
59-14 loss to
Arkansas Tech on
September 26, a game
in which he had 264
passing yards and
106 rushing yards to
give him a total of
8,313 career yards,
breaking Cory
Allred’s record of
7,988 yards from
2003-04. In this
past Saturday’s win
over Ouachita
Baptist, Buisson
increased his totals
with 306 passing
yards and 10 rushing
yards.
With five games
remaining in the
2009 season and
possibly 11 games in
the 2010 season,
Buisson currently
has 6,488 career
passing yards and
2,141 career rushing
yards. He currently
ranks third in
passing yards and
ninth in rushing
yards at UAM.
In his first two
seasons at UAM,
Buisson broke the
school’s record for
total offense in a
season by a freshman
and by a sophomore,
racking up 2,926
yards in 2007 and
4,019 yards in 2008.
If Buisson breaks
the school’s record
for a junior this
season, he will also
own the overall
single-season record
as well as the Gulf
South Conference’s
single-season
record. Cory Allred
racked up 4,267
yards as a junior in
2003 to set the UAM
and GSC records.
Buisson also holds
the UAM and GSC
single-game record
of 640 yards in a
51-48 win over
Henderson State in
2008. In that game,
he became the first
player at any NCAA
level to throw for
at least 400 yards
and rush for at
least 200 yards in a
single game by
passing for 424
yards with five
touchdowns and
rushing for 216
yards with two
touchdowns.
Buisson is expected
to finish this
season with over
10,000 career yards
of total offense at
his current rate of
just over 308 yards
per game.
With his current
average of just over
231 passing yards
per game, Buisson is
expected to surpass
Kevin McCarn’s
career record of
7,864 passing yards
in the first game of
the 2010 season.
