The Council approved the 3-14-06 minutes.

The Council discussed the assessment process for each graduate program. Mr. Ray emphasized the importance of continued review and evaluation of each gradua= te program’s assessment process. Mr. Ray requested the academic unit heads from the School of Education and the School of Forest Re= sources contact Assistant Vice Chancellor, Dr. Ranelle Eubanks to further discuss a= nd review their individual graduate program assessment process.

The Council approved the UAM Graduate Council Policy a= nd Operating Procedures.

Mr. Ray noted that he would like the Graduate Council = to review and update the Organization of Graduate Studies. The statement of Organization of Graduate Studies may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of the gradua= te faculty members attending a meeting in which a quorum is present.

Mr. Ray reminded Council members to start preparations= for the 07-09 catalog. The Gradua= te Council Polices and Operating Procedures require all proposals which are to appear in the next two-year academic catalog to be submitted to the Graduate Council by October 30 of the year prior to printing the new catalog.

The Council approved Ms. Diane Payne for membership to= the Graduate Faculty. Ms. Payne will hold category II status.

The = School of Arts and Humanit= ies submitted a Graduate Faculty Nomination Form for Mr. Scott Kuttenkuler for = a 10 day review. Mr. Kuttenkuler&#= 8217;s nomination will be placed on the agenda for the next Graduate Council meeti= ng which is scheduled for April 11.

The Council approved the following proposals from the = School of Education with an exception made t= o the policy concerning the catalog description using approximately 25 words.

The Council discussed the possibility of the university producing a separate Graduate Program catalog. The Council also discussed the nee= d to improve upon the current format used for the online catalog. The Council noted the need to use = an online format that would allow ease of movement within the document i.e. bookmarks. Several Council me= mbers suggested that the catalog be primarily distributed on CD with bound copies available upon request.

The Council approved a recommendation that the 07-09 c= atalog be made available in hardcopy; CD and HTML format on the webpage. Mr. Ray will take this recommendat= ion to the Executive Council.
