Graduate Council Minutes

March 14, 2006

Present: Dr. Vera Lang; Dr. Robert Moore; Dr. Adam McK= ee; Dr. Robert Weih; Mr. Joshua Richardson; Mr. David Ray; Dr. Peggy Doss; Ms. Donna Hunnicutt; Dr. Debbie Bryant; Dr. Ranelle Eubanks; Dr. Philip Tappe. Reporter: Ms. Catherine Karnes.

 

 

The Council approved the 2-14-05 minutes.

 

The Council approved a s= tudent appeal of the course expiration date for three courses.

 

The Council approved the proposed academic appeal proc= ess for graduate students with minor revisions noted.

 

The Council discussed and revised the proposed UAM Gra= duate Council Policies and Operating Procedures.=   The School of Education will s= ubmit a revision/addition to the procedures concerning add-on licensure. The prop= osal will be placed on the agenda for approval at the next scheduled meeting.

 

The Council approved the addition of the Academic Appe= al Process to the proposed Graduate Council Policies and Operating Procedures.  The Academic Appe= al Process will be added to the end of the proposal.

 

Mr. Ray reported on the Conference of Southern Graduate Schools which he attended in February in Little Rock.  Mr. Ray said he was impressed with how informative and well organized the conference was.  Mr. Ray noted= that it was a great opportunity to network with colleagues.  Mr. Ray expressed his appreciation= to Dr. Tappe for his suggestion that UAM join the Conference of Southern Gradu= ate Schools.

 

Ms. Donna Hunnicutt notified the Council that the Scho= ol of Education (SOE) would be submitting a lengthy proposal (200 pages more or l= ess) concerning the Ed Leadership program.  The Council suggested that the SOE provide Council members with a li= nk to the information instead of producing numerous large packets for each mem= ber of the Council.

 

The = School of Arts and Humanit= ies submitted a Graduate Faculty Nomination Form for Ms. Diane Payne for a 10 d= ay review.  Ms. Payne’s nomination will be placed on the agenda for the next Graduate Council meeti= ng with is scheduled for March 28.

 

The Council adjourned at 4:03 p.m.
